Isn’t She Lovely! Part II

Not long ago I told you about Ruth.  She had been in the hospital and the family had gathered around her in that frail time.  I told you how lovely she was…even in her ailing moments.

The doctors worked their magic.  Her body responded. She got better.

Over the past four months, she has been in and out of the hospital.  She rallied and her spirit thrived as a loving mother, grandmother and friend.

Last week Ruth went back to the hospital after flat lining at her rehab center.  Everyone was concerned. The family gathered to see her this past weekend.  It was like a family fest in her hospital room.  She had calls from her relatives from overseas.  Flowers came, e-mails came, pictures and cards came.  She cherished each one.

This time she will not be coming home.  She died quite peacefully on Monday around 8:30 p.m. with her daughters nearby and knowing that her family and friends loved her dearly.

She was ready.  She had the chance to say her goodbyes.  She had such grace in her passing.

Ruth left us in body but her spirit and graciousness lives on.  If we could all have her exceptional positive qualities and her good sense of humor we would be better people and the world would be a better place.

We love you, Ruth.  We will strive to carry on and take some of your grace with us.
